The whole point of taking captives is to pressure Zionist regime to accept a ceasefire and not to torture or rape some settlers. LOL Read my previous post. Particularly the last sentence.

So, Hamas start a war by attacking Israel & then take hostages to later force a ceasefire? If they didn't attack in the first place then there would have been no need for hostages or ceasefires. Right? Simple logic.

The whole point of taking hostages is to
1. Psychologically punish Israel
2. Use them as human shields to slow down the IDF, (otherwise Gaza would have been literally flattened)
3. Use them as 'bargaining chips' in negotiations (not related for a ceasefire).

Neither side wants a ceasefire. Very obvious.

The killing of victims (& witnesses) by individuals & groups (including Governments) is a well established & well documented technique to avoid criminal prosecutions, bad press/publicity etc. You are naive to think that Hamas has not done this, or that they are a 'nice bunch of guys'.

Both Hamas & the far right Israelis are all fanatical deranged extremists. The sooner they disappear from this world the better.

I totally see what you mean, but we are still in hypotheticals. I do believe orientation to be innate, but what you speak of can only proven going forward- as no set of genes have YET been identified- still, no one can say that there AREN'T either. It'd be a very elaborate task. Sample sizes would have to be huge, and undertaken across different world populations to make results valid and reliable. So, LONG (and expensive), which is why I'm saying I'm not holding my breath, and not because I don't think it can't be done. Regards, -W

'Yet' is a weasel word & very unscientific because it implies that at some later date it will be identified, with no factual basis. Just opinion without evidence, again.

Why would evolution create a non-heterosexual human organism that cannot reproduce? It's an evolutionary dead end. The fact that a small percentage of humans born to heterosexual parents keep identifying as various non-hetero types, again points to a psychological cause.

That post was to someone who firmly believes it IS genetic. I do NOT. I made the difference between genetic (DNA) and other biological factors, Gave a brief history of what research yielded or was looking at to date (not going to retype it).
The "of yet", having worked in research a long time, it is the the facto position towards anything until disproven. I did not condone such an undertaking (finding "gay genes" at any point, and does not represent an opinion about it.

The way you use "yet" implies an expectation or potential of something happening in the future.

I would be very surprised that in your field this is the de facto position. In my field, we formulate a scientific hypothesis then test to see if it is true. The results (numerous testing & reproducible by others) will either show that it is or isn't We would never say 'it isn't true, yet', because from our point of view that would be unethical & contrary to the Scientific method. Something is either true or it is not true. Something (eg., a gene sequence) has been found or it has not.
Of course, testing & research can continue for a few reasons. The scientific method is about careful observation & rigorous skepticism: assume & expect nothing.

@Oscar, my area of study is (should say "was" since I'm more "in the field" and out of lab these past few years) is Neuroscience, not linguistics and semantics!
I tested drugs for novel uses or potential repercussions (e.g. methylphenidate aka ritalin in the young for potential cocaine addiction at adult age) using the animal model. I even tested "learned Monogamy"!. My latest work was with human subjects, in Addiction Psychiatry.

Guess what? If you want buddies, a life outside Academia, you have to drop the serious tone a notch, which is why, look for flees, you'll find some (but WHY!!!) it has been my bread an butter (and passion!) long enough that need a break, "Not proven as of yet" just means no one as dis/proven a given hypothesis and does not imperatively speak speak of future endeavors (someone MIGHT try something, or not, and if anything was tried, it could pursued further or be abandoned) but it's just of the state of affairs AT THIS POINT on any given subject.

Lastly: ANY research TRIAL DOES starts WITH AN EXPECTATION: the hypothesis that has to be emitted to be dis/proven. ("Learnt Monogamy" for instance is a wide conceot, before which many trial hypotheses came). And a test hypothesis has to be very narrow and precise: and the further along, even narrower, as "vague" questions like "is homosexuality passed down genetically" are NOT testable in themselves. They must be broken into testable items, like statements, that end with a yes/no answer withing a preset statistical parameter, usually <.05 or <.01. Genetics is outside my purview, but I guess a test hypothesis COULD (not fast) sound something like "Gene X will present in genitors of homosexual progeny" then Y/N. If "yes", then next phase "The expression of gene X will vary between the genitors of homosexual vs heterosexual offspring", Y/N and so on. Of course, tons of definitions must follow in the methodology e.g. who do we call "homosexual" so everyone can universally use the same definition (inclusions and exclusions), to replicate. And so one with any term that may be interpreted differently by different researchers. The ONE THING: it HAS to start with a statement that can be disproven.

His "truth" consist of rarely anything more than cherrypicked parts of WikiPedia pages and the repeating of strong beliefs and phrases.

Oscar-Beastie-Xanthmonster-CInque... has let himself being dragged in over his head into info warrior / truther mode, now juggling several accounts (but unable to stick to the right tone of each one), impersonating others by using small changes to their account name and laying out his fantasies as if his personal epiphanies were more than illusions of grandeur. All of that is accompanied by insults, void allegations, swear words and hyperbolic threats (he once even stated to command 'Anonymous' to come after me as well as to dox me - I'm still waiting for either of that to happen . And as the last weeks have hinted at, his increasingly paranoid posts are making him more and more 'friends', all the while he strongly seems to believe to be the 'good soul' and inevitable stackpole of this forum.

You might try to talk some sense into a poor horror clown of that dimension, but as you start to recognize yourselves: "searching for flees everywhere".

What fascinates me in a way is the obsession of homophobes and the like with the sexuality of others and the rationalizations of that, like humanity dying out (Really? Since when? Why not consider the climate?), HIM The One And Only (besides a few thousand other gods primates came and still come up with), etc., the repetition of boilerplate phrases like "thrust down the throat" for mere further existance of gay media, nothing seems to be too farfetched in order to rationalize the urgent drive to peep and rule under the bed sheets of complete strangers. One could probably call that drive in itself a 'perversion', in the good old 19th century sense of the term.

Ukrainians are people

Therefore:
If Palestinians are people, & innocent people should not be killed, then innocent Palestinians should not be killed.
If Israelis are people, & innocent people should not be killed, then innocent Israelis should not be killed.
If Russians are people, & innocent people should not be killed, then innocent Russians should not be killed.
If Ukrainians are people, & innocent people should not be killed, then innocent Ukrainians should not be killed.

Simple basic logic.
The only time it breaks down is if one of the Statements' is considered to be false.

However:
There are a majority of close or equal genetic (DNA) matches between Russians & Ukrainians.
There are a majority of close or equal genetic (DNA) matches between Palestinians & Israelis.

Russians & Ukrainians are related & essentially the same peoples
Palestinians & Israelis are related & essentially the same peoples

Maybe you will come to accept this truth someday: All humans are the same species with the same human DNA. The minor differences between us are 'accidental' & due to where someone was born eg., skin tone, height, belief system etc.
